Our goal is to help you build your business according to a well-defined plan.

 

The Goals: You may already have well-defined goals for your organisation: grow revenues by x, increase margins to y, increase customer satisfaction by z and expand/withdraw in specific areas. The very nature of a goal implies a change from the current state. SBS can help you design the path to your goals. If you wish, we will coordinate resources and plans along that path. We are also happy to jump in if things are not going quite right. (See Project Rescue)

The Issues: Some call them issues, others call them gaps. No matter what you call them, each functional area will recognize the difference between where they are required to be (the goals) and where they are now. We can help each functional area identify and articulate their issues and prioritise them in such a way that senior management and their colleagues can understand them quickly.

The Priorities: Your senior management sets the priorities for which to address--to deliver the overall business goals. Often management's message regarding priorities comes in the form of budget approvals (or rejections or reductions or headcount changes or...). Once the priorities are set, they need to be articulated in so that the organisation understands them clearly. We can help.

The Strategies: A department's strategy almost always involves other departments. Marketing plans new products and needs funding, production and legal approval. Operations plans changes to delivery times. Financial reporting changes ....

SBS can help keep things aligned: we lead strategy planning sessions, assuring balance, objectivity and necessary documentation. For example, we can help marketing assess the balance of the marketing mix in light of the business goals. (See Marketing Audit). We can assess the state of the marketplace. (See Marketplace Assessment.) For each functional area, we also perform an analysis of the strategic consistency of your business goals, the marketplace, your marketing mix, your operating mix and the financials of your business.

Action: Once the strategies are agreed and coordinated, we design, with you, action plans to ensure focus on the objectives and efficient use of resources. Using classic project management tools and our own project management style, we coordinate your resources to ensure success. (See Project Management)

Measurable Goals: We believe in measurable goals. Completing the project is not the goal. Delivering the planned and desired results is the goal. We establish clear metrics for goals to ensure everyone knows when the goals have been achieved or how much more has to be done to achieve them. From the start, we keep our eyes -- and the eyes of our partners -- on the prize.
